Mark Shea on Conversion

The one and only, the inimitable Mark Shea with some thoughts on conversion, from his blog today:

Nobody needs a peanut gallery lobbing comments in the Holy of Holies of the soul . . . Be reminded that conversion is an incredibly intimate process. The idea that ecclesial politics will much impinge on it seems to me to be wildly out of touch with reality. That's why the Scandal made no dent. How many convert readers of my blog became Catholics because they looked at the episcopal college and said, "Wow! That's why I'm becoming Catholic! If they aren't holy men, then everything the Holy Spirit has been doing in my life is in ruins!"
